Hammer lands his first-ever smallie on the fly.  Benny catches a beastly river monster - taped 22.5" (the biggest river smallie I'ver ever seen).

June 2015 combo offshore / inshore trip (part 1)

Part 1 - Incredible nonstop rod bending action offshore with Jesus.  Caught all kinds of strange stuff: African Pompano, weird reef fish, snapper, mutton snapper, jacks, shark. 

June 2015 combo offshore / inshore trip (part 2)

Pretty awesome / special to witness the incredible Leon catch his first tarpon (he hooked, jumped and landed his first tarpon, on his very first cast ever to a tarpon.  Insane).  Incredible day.  We jumped / landed 2, including my personal best (video footage, not photos, fish never jumped).  All fish pix here of Tony's fish.  Drew is the best.

June 2015 combo offshore / inshore trip (part 3)

One of all time best days on the water, ever.  Tall statement but I think it is true.  Drew who is one of the best, of the best tarpon fly guides in the keys delivered in a big big way.  We had an fantasy filled, story book day: 8 tarpon jumped/landed between the two of us.  We cast to countless fish.  Countless. Pure insanity.  I'll be surprised if in the balance of my life on this planet I have another tarpon day as good as this one.  At various points when the action was white hot, time slowed to a surreal standstill, I've experienced that feeling two other times in 30 years of chasing fish.  Once when I was 12 years old pike fishing with my dad and his best buddy in Canada when back to back to back monsters were caught and it felt like the next cast was both seconds and hours away during the fight, and once in Montana (Ben you know exactly what I'm talking about) with Mark and Pete, on the Madison river "skating" for trout after dark during the salmon fly hatch.  I may have checked my pulse a few times to confirm it was actually happening.  I have about 20 minutes of video snippets.  Posting only a few here... one shared purely to hear the soundtrack of the reel signing.

April 2015 Key West

A couple of awesome days offshore with Jim & Rush in Key West: tuna, jacks, bonita, permit on the fly.

April 2015 K3 Float

April K3 Float with Gidzo (4) and Grandad produced a few winners including a nice pre-spawn smallie.  The float also included a few island explorations for treasure and dinosaur bones.

March 2015 Spring IL smallies

BAM.  Great to finally get the drift boat out and scout some new water… and bonus… get a few smallies to eat.   Gidzo got to tag along and was a champion: 4 hr float 38 degrees.  Not bad for a 5 year old.  Proud Dad.
